About

Lili Barras-Hargan

Horticulturalist • Environmentalist • Writer

I am an enthusiastic horticulturalist currently working in some of the urban gardens of central London. I decided to retrain as a gardener in 2019 and was lucky to find an apprenticeship programme that could both give me practical experience and help me learn the theory to support it.

Since completing my qualifications, I have had the opportunity to work in a huge variety of high-profile sites, giving me a vast breadth of experience and knowledge of tasks, which can be found on the What I can do for you page.

All my work is underpinned by a pursuit of sustainability, environmentalism and raising the profile of green spaces. From sprawling estates to balcony capsule gardens, I strongly believe that spending any time around plants is incredibly beneficial to our physical and mental health.

I am passionate about finding climate crisis solutions through horticultural practices, as well as how water scarcity will change the landscape of gardening in the years to come. I currently live in South West London with my husband and two cats. On my days off, I can be found crawling through the shrubs at Royal Botanical Gardens, Kew with my camera.
