Lili Barras-Hargan

Apprentice Gardener and Horticulture Student

I am an apprentice gardener and horticulture student currently working in some of the city gardens of London. I decided to retrain as a gardener at the end of 2019 and was lucky to find an apprenticeship programme that could both give me practical experience and help me learn the theory to support it. I am very interested in ethnobotany and etymology, as well as how water scarcity will change the landscape of gardening in the years to come. I currently live on a narrowboat in London and cruise about the city’s waterways with my husband and cat.

Here are a few of my interests:

  • Ethnobotany
  • Etymology
  • Tropical plants
  • Water scarcity
